Our Unbreakable Spirit and Digging Deep to Find Our Resilience.
Life challenges us with unexpected detours, heartbreaking losses, and moments that can leave us feeling lost, broken, and hopeless. Sometimes we may understand why things happen, and sometimes we need to understand that we may never know why things happen. The key thing to understand is…that it happened. Understanding doesn’t make it easier and we need to know that persevering through hardship is a testament to our character and the resilience of the human spirit.
Resilience isn't about never falling down because as we have all experienced, it will happen. It's about our inner strength to get back up, dust ourselves off, and keep moving forward. It's the catalyst to a ignite the spark that will turn into a fire…lighting our path despite the darkness we may feel around us at the time. And that time may be short, and it may be long, so we need to prepare ourselves for the long road ahead.
So what makes up our resilience, what do we need and how do we move forward?
- First, there is The Power of Hope: Even in the face of immense difficulty, we as humans tend to cling to hope. We hold onto the belief that things will get better, and that brighter days are ahead…and they are. This hope, no matter how small will fuel our fire and will develop into the determination and the strength to keep going.
- We also need to Find Strength in our Community both inside and outside or our normal social circles: Inherently, we are social creatures, and our connections to others are a powerful source of strength and inspiration. Revealed is a common thread in Knowing that we all have struggles and challenges. we are all fundamentally the same, despite perceptions of our societal belongings and opinions. So when we face these challenges, the love and support of family, friends, and communities can lift us up and remind us that we're not alone; and we need only to look left and right to find those who need our support.
- We need to focus on Learning from our Setbacks: Challenges, while difficult, can and will be valuable learning experiences, tho it may not seem like it at the time. We need to learn from our mistakes, develop healthy coping mechanisms, and learn to discover new skills and processes to help us navigate the next inevitable challenge.
- This inner strength will highlight Our Will to Survive: Deep within each of us lies a primal instinct to survive. This drive however, can be dimmed to the point of breaking if we do not look deep within and make the conscious choice to survive. This basic drive pushes us to overcome obstacles and find solutions, even when faced with seemingly insurmountable odds. Our will to survive can be challenged in ways we never knew and reaching a breaking point can become a dangerous journey, but all of the reflection, introspection and healthy thoughts about the person we are and the goodness we have to offer to ourselves and others will turn that dangerous journey into one of truth, insight and love for we are and for others.
- Lastly, during these hardships and difficult times we need to observe The Power and benefits of personal Growth: Overcoming adversity doesn't just make us stronger; it helps us grow as a friend, family member, partner and as a human being. We’ll emerge from these challenges with a new perspective, new goals, new passions, a deeper understanding of ourselves, others and a newfound appreciation for all of simple things that life offers us of every second of every day. We need to grow to see it.
I firmly believe resilience is inherent to all human beings. I believe and know we need to dig deep to find it sometimes…but it is there. All you have to do, is look in the mirror.
So with that being said…
Be strong.
Be resilient.
And as always…be well.
